Autumn 2010 Autumn will see the Society back in concert at the Pomegranate with a selection of the best musical numbers. Look out for more early in the new year.
Spring 2010 Spring 2010 will see the Society return to the Pomegranate from 27th April to 1st May with another old favourite, "The Music Man".Written (book, music and lyrics) by (Robert) Meredith Wilson, an American composer, songwriter, conductor and playwright, "The Music Man" is based on a story by Willson and Franklin Lacey. It tells the story of con manHarold Hill, who poses as a boys' band organizer and leader (despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef) and sells band instruments and uniforms to naive townsfolk before skipping town with the cash. In River City prim Marian the librarian sees through him, but when Hill helps her younger brother, Marian begins to fall in love with him. Harold, in turn falling for Marian, risks being caught to win her."The Music Man" was a Broadway hit in 1957 winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical and features some showstopping numbers including the ever popular Seventy-Six Trombones.
